This is breaking the entrepreneur burnout cycle. You Hey, everyone, welcome into another episode. How are you guys doing? I wanted to ask you a question, and that question is, have you ever said I am just an anxious person, if you have then I am almost willing to bet that, because you've said that you've kind of just accepted it as the way you know it is what it is like. It's always going to be that way, and there's no way to change. Am I right? And trust me when I say that I have all the empathy in the world for this, because I actually used to say the same exact things. I used to say, I am a worry wart. I like to be prepared. I am, you know, just an anxious person. And I never actually questioned whether or not I truly am an anxious person, or whether or not it was a habit that I could actually change. And so what if I told you that you are not just an anxious person. You see one of the biggest mistakes that not only I made, but that I see so many entrepreneurs make, is they just think, you know, I'm an anxious person, and it's just the way it is. And they say that about the anxiety that they experience, and because of that, they actually end up believing that, because it's just the way it is, there's no way to change that, right? Like it is set in stone, and it is, you know, it is what it is. But if that were true, then no one would be able to actually change anything about themselves, or would be able to do anything to change themselves, right? And yet, we know that isn't the case. In fact, we see people change their habits and their beliefs all the time, and that's the point. They change by learning. They change by questioning it and then learning it a different way and then adopting a different way. And that's the thing about this, is that you just haven't actually learned how to change these issues, and so essentially, what you're doing is you are essentially saying, because I cannot regulate my fear and anxiety and worry, then I am just an anxious person, right? That I cannot regulate my emotions, and therefore I suck at anxiety. But the reality is, it doesn't mean you can't learn how to regulate the emotions related to your anxiety, right? Like, essentially, an analogy I like to use is like what you're doing here is you're criticizing yourself for not ever being given the tools or learning the tools to be able to manage your anxiety right, like you wouldn't tell a baby that they suck at walking just because they haven't learned the tools yet, or just because they haven't mastered The tools yet, yet, you're essentially doing that to yourself, where you are saying because I have anxiety, because I have these emotions around anxiety, then I am unable to regulate it, and therefore I'm just an anxious person. And the very mistake of that is that continuing to tell yourself that could actually be the very thing that's actually keeping you stuck in anxiety, and it could be the very thing that continues to perpetuate your anxiety for the rest of your life. Because what if I told you that you're just missing the tools that you could. Learn to be able to eliminate your anxiety by 50% or more, because the good news is that you can do that. And the reason I know that, and there's a lot of studies, you know, Brene Brown has an amazing book that I allude to very often, and it's Atlas of the heart. And I love that book because she really dives into what our emotions are, what they signify, the thought processes that could be causing it, and the way that we interpret things that could be eliciting these emotions. And I think that it's so important for us to understand our emotions because, you know, we kind of just label them as good and bad based off the way they feel. But part of having emotional intelligence is also about understanding yourself, understanding the way that you're perceiving things, and then being able to change things from there. And when we talk about anxiety she had a very good point in her book through studies, which is that her studies actually show that there's a difference between an anxiety state versus an anxiety trait. Okay? And when we talk about anxiety state, yes, that could come down to the neuro chemicals in your brain, where you know there might be a shortage of some neuro chemicals and then a excess of other neuro chemicals. But when we talk about anxiety state, it is a temporary state, meaning it is the way that you are perceiving a problem, or the way that you are perceiving something that is creating this level of fear and the fight, flight or freeze response. And I think because so many of us do not understand the difference, we just lump it into one big thing, and we call it anxiety. But the reality is that the anxiety states are often what we are talking about when we talk about having fear as an entrepreneur, and that can be changed, because the good news is you can learn how to change your anxiety state by using the brain's amazing ability to adapt and to grow and to change the way that we are wired. And I want to help you achieve that. So how do you do that? Well, part of that is really first understanding the difference between anxiety state and anxiety trait, which we already talked about. But then it's really about building that awareness of learning, okay, what is eliciting this state of anxiety? What is it that my brain sees as a threat that is causing me to have this fight, flight or freeze response, this uncomfortable feeling, this emotion of fear and worry, and, you know, all of those uncomfortable feelings that people tend to call as bad, And essentially, what are the thoughts that are internally happening around the situation that I'm perceiving currently, right? And then it's about learning the brain based tools to be able to adapt, to grow, and then to change the way that you are looking at and perceiving, essentially perceiving the situation. And this is actually something that I teach all of my clients how to do, is I teach them essentially the three step method that helps them to be able to rewire their brains, reprogram their subconscious so that they are not perceiving situations the same way that is causing, you know, the anxiety and the overwhelm, and I want to help you achieve that as well. So if this is hitting home for you, where you are like, Yes, I always thought I was an anxious person, and you kind of feel like you have a high form of a high functioning anxiety where you can get a lot done, but the mental and the emotional toll that it takes on you, you know, going day in and day out in your business just feels a lot then I would like to help you through that, okay, because it's not about not feeling these things ever, but it's about understanding it and then learning how to be able to change the way your brain is perceiving the threat. And if this is where you feel. Like you know, the toll of the anxiety has become a lot, and you're just not sure that you can handle the ups and downs and the emotional roller coasters, and you've been seeing how the anxiety has really been bleeding in to your personal lives, to your relationships, your health and just your overall well being. Then I wanted to invite you to a free workshop that I am actually going to be doing on a bi weekly basis. And during this what I'm going to be doing is showing you the exact step by step framework to help you not only understand what is eliciting that anxiety state, but what is the belief that's eliciting it? And then it's about teaching you the three step framework to have brain based tools to be able to help you eliminate that, to get off the roller coaster of anxiety, right? And you can register for that, if you would like to at WWW dot Rihanna mulcahy.com, forward slash, rewired. The link is also going to be in the show notes.
